Source: raw/cinema-of-marbles-draft-2025-12-30.md (PhD dissertation by Geli Mademli, Cinema of Marbles: Manifestations of Crisis in Greek Film Heritage, Draft no. 1, 4,373 lines). Source preserved unmodified in raw/.

Pages created (21):

  • index.md, log.md, glossary.md
  • cinema-of-marbles.md (source-level summary)
  • Chapter pages: chapter-1-crisis-and-nationalism.md, chapter-2-center-periphery.md, chapter-3-branding-greek-crisis.md, chapter-4-crisis-ecosystems.md

Notes:

  • The dissertation still contains "p. XX" cross-reference placeholders. Where the manuscript refers to an external publication of a sub-section, the corresponding citation has been preserved in the relevant wiki page.
  • The draft has occasional UTF-8 rendering noise from non-Latin characters (Greek polytonic, special quotation marks); the wiki uses plain English transliterations where the original was ambiguous.
  • The wiki distinguishes Mademli's own coinages (marmarization, boundary archive, viewser) from borrowed terms in Glossary. The neologism marbles (plural) is treated as a structural metaphor rather than a defined term.
  • All case-study pages link upward to their parent chapter and outward to recurring concepts. Manakia Brothers and Thessaloniki Cinema Museum are cross-referenced from multiple chapters.
  • The 2026 status of the Manakaki festival, the 2018 Prespa Agreement, the 2014 FIAF Skopje congress, and the May 2022 Vlihi performance are all preserved with their dissertation-cited dates.

2026-06-10 — Add prologue, introduction, refresh against June 2026 draft

New source material received: the June 2026 versions of the Prologue and Introduction (delivered as separate .docx files), plus an updated PDF of the body draft (raw/cinema-of-marbles-draft-2026-06-10.txt). Word-level comparison shows the new body is functionally identical to the December 2025 draft (delta ≈ 10 words across ~54,000), so no chapter-level rewrites were necessary — but a fact-check on Vlihi's date is flagged (introduction §0.3 dates it 2023; chapter 3 body dates the performance 2022).

Pages added (3): - prologue.md — covers §"What Is Past Is Prologue" (Abney Park audio-walk, polycrisis pushback, Future statue and Shakespeare quotation, the autobiographical civilian → spectator → viewser arc). - introduction.md — covers §0.0 Bugonia/KAS/Acropolis case, §0.1 film archaeology + archaeopolitics, §0.2 marbles + critical archival dispositif, §0.3 chapter breakdown, §0.4 four-field mangle methodology + desire lines. - film-archaeology.md — new concept page for the framing discipline name Mademli proposes in §0.1.

Pages updated (7): - cinema-of-marbles.md — Sources/date refreshed, Author-and-status revised, Structure expanded to include prologue and introduction, "Recurring concepts" now lists film-archaeology, Related-pages expanded. - glossary.md — Sources refreshed; added entries for critical archival dispositif, interoperability (wide sense), polycrisis/multicrisis (with the prologue's dissent noted), archaeopolitics, dream nation, archival impulse, archiveology, tacit narratives, desire lines, variantology. - chapter-1-crisis-and-nationalism.md — summary updated to nod to film-archaeology. - chapter-2-center-periphery.md — summary updated to nod to introduction's variantology framing. - chapter-3-branding-greek-crisis.md — summary updated to record the introduction's alt-title "Crisis of Memory" and the archiveology operative concept. - chapter-4-crisis-ecosystems.md — summary updated to record the introduction's reading of AN's name as a double allusion (Glissant + unknowingly Latour). - vlihi.md — date discrepancy flagged: introduction §0.3 says 2023, chapter 3 body says May 2022. The performance date itself is unchanged in the body draft.

Pages of operational housekeeping updated (2): - index.md — added "Front matter" section with prologue + introduction; added film-archaeology to Concepts. - mkdocs.yml (outside wiki/) — published-site navigation updated to mirror the new pages.

Notes: - The .docx files in raw/ are stored as extracted plain-text (prologue-2026-06.txt, introduction-2026-06.txt) for the wiki's own line-citation references. The PDF is stored as cinema-of-marbles-draft-2026-06-10.txt. All three remain in raw/ and are excluded from git per .gitignore. - The 23-April-2010 Dogtooth / Papandreou synchronicity in the chapter-3 wiki is not repeated by the introduction, so the chapter-3 reading stands as the canonical wiki account. - A small discrepancy in Lanthimos's Bugonia should be noted as the wiki continues to evolve: the introduction notes the KAS denied permission to film at the Acropolis in April 2025; this is the dissertation's most contemporary case and may continue to evolve before the dissertation's submission.
